Ufford Park Woodbridge Hotel, Golf & Spa

Ufford Park Woodbridge Hotel, Golf and Spa, Yarmouth Road, Woodbridge IP12 1QW, UK – 01394 383555

My friend and I came for a Twilight Spa last night. There were a lot of complex transactions with vouchers, but the lady on the desk couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. We had a fantastic time - very good facilities.

All in all, my friend and I had an enjoyable morning at the spa. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. I've been to this spa a few years ago and it was spotless. However I was left a little disappointed as it now looks as though it is in of a little TLC. The head rests in the large spa pool were loose and would pop off when the bubbles started. Also the chemicals were on the strong side in both Jacuzzis. Made our eyes sting and my skin still has a faint smell of bleach even after two showers. Also the showers in the changing room had no ceiling. You could see up to the pipework/wiring Etc. and the ceiling tiles that were present had mould on them. Also the push button for the water lasted approximately 20 seconds. I lost count of the times I had to press it - made washing my hair a very laborious task. After the spa we went to the bar for lunch. This also looks as though it could do with a makeover as it's looking dated. The restaurant has recently been refurbished and looks amazing - they just need to do the rest of the bar/reception area. On the bright side, the food was lovely and was served promptly.

Ufford Park Woodbridge Hotel, Golf and Spa

Ufford Park, Yarmouth Rd, Melton, Woodbridge IP12 1QW, UK – 01394 383555

My family and I have stayed at Ufford Park Hotel on three separate occasions, and although I have never used the golf course, I have used the driving range, spa, swimming pool, adventure golf and restaurant, all of which I enjoyed. The adventure golf is loads of fun and the spa is very relaxing. The food and service in the restaurant was very good. I think the entertainment is quite well priced, although you could soon rack up a big bill. I don't really play golf, but I understand that the golf course isn't the cheapest. I liked the room upgrades and I thought it felt more swanky than when I have stayed previously. The hotel is well situated to explore Suffolk, which we have done before, or there is enough to keep you busy on the hotel site, which we did this time. We find it perfect for a family get together.

Good gym. Mirrored studio with classes buy available for free use for members if there's no class. Decent sized leisure pool for a health club which you can just about do lengths in (plenty do). There is also a sauna and steam room with a decent jacuzzi. Bonus is the 2.3 mile running track around the golf course which is lovely. That also has obstacles and pull up bars dotted around the track. If you pay extra there's a spa which has one or two nice extras, but all in all the spa facilities for members are ample for relaxing and swimming. It's an excellent health club given it is a small hotel in Suffolk.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Unruly Pig

Orford Rd, Bromeswell, Woodbridge IP12 2PU, UK – 01394 460310

Very quaint lovely pub with nice pieces furnishing the walls. The young staff, on the day we dined were perhaps a little overcome by the size of our group and lacked a level of friendliness one would expect from a venue of the Unruly Pigs reputations. Front staff, on the other-hand we’re impeccably friendly. The cuisine was very tasty although some dishes seemed very simple considering this was a Gastropub (risotto and pasta dishes). All in all a good experience and worth a visit if you are in the area or driving by.

Positives: lovely venue. Quirky and cosy. Absolutely delicious food! I had the pheasant and it was amazing. Negatives: Arrival wasn’t ideal. Host and all waiting staff were more concerned with another larger group. I was seated and then forgotten about. Had to ask for the drinks menu. Mains and deserts arrived fine but we were then ignored for two hours! Literally ignored. No one asked if we wanted tea/coffee or additional drinks (which we did). No one interacted with us at all. Then we had to go and find someone to ask for the bill, even though there were plenty of staff hanging around and only one other table of customers. Waitress did apologise and removed some drinks from our bill which was appreciated but we have still left feeling offended and disappointed. It tainted what should have been a lovely Christmas meal with dear friends. Sadly I wont be hurrying back anytime soon.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!
